PP BOOKS REACHED DAVAO ORIENTAL

It has long been the dream of Pusong Pinoy to reach out to the children of Mindanao. That dream came true when one of Pusong Pinoy's Heroes, Edralin Lim Fields of California, asked the organization to extend its book donation program to her hometown, Tamban, Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental.  After coordinating with the school principal and going through our recipient screening and assessment process, Pusong Pinoy sent 500 children's books to the community school.

On August 22, 2013, Mr. Felix Cubrado, school's principal, acknowledged the receipt of these wonderfully-illustrated books. The teachers immediately unpacked the boxes and set them up in the library. They cannot wait to get started with their reading program where all the children are given 30 minutes a day to come to the library and enjoy the beautiful stories behind the pages.

Once again, Pusong Pinoy extends its deepest gratitude to all the generous HEROES around the globe who never tire of providing support to the children of the Philippines. We cannot do this without you! Mabuhay kayong lahat!

PP SUPERHERO JOCELIN OLIVIER'S
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT PSAC

Last month, PP Superhero JOCELIN OLIVIER of Arizona celebrated her birthday by sponsoring a luncheon for the 125 children of Parish Social Action Committee (PSAC), including some parents and siblings, though our PP Birthday Blowout Program. The kids celebrated her birthday with food and games. This is truly a fun-filled day for the children and a great way  of celebrating a birthday in a meaningful way. Their smile is the best gift ever!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY & THANK YOU SO MUCH, TL Jocelin!

Kudos to PSAC's President, LIZA DE JESUS, and the amazing PSAC volunteers for making this happen!  PSAC's mission is to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in Batangas, Philippines; not only by helping them meet their needs, but also encourage a positive outlook on life.

If you would like to celebrate your birthday the Pusong Pinoy way, please contact our Charter Team Leader Jay Martinez or Team Leader Carol Vega at info@pusongpinoy.org.

PUSONG PINOY AT THE HOLY FAIR
IN AYR, SCOTLAND

The “Holy Fair” is held annually in June, at Rozelle Park in Ayr. It’s a family fun day out, with Pipe Bands, entertainment and a variety of stalls promoting charities or selling things. It’s an ideal opportunity to promote Pusong Pinoy.

The Pusong Pinoy Team was- Stewart McMurran, Paula Nimmo and Douglas Inness. We arrived an hour or so before opening, checked out our stall, hung tarpaulins, and set out leaflets, books and other items. Usually, we have a photo display, but threatening rain made us decide against it. The weather, last year, was disappointing but it was better this year. Books and water do not mix!

Occasionally, people donate books on the day or after the event, so the event was a good venue to spread the word about Pusong Pinoy.  It was a busy day and fun chatting with people Pusong Pinoy and how it supports literacy in the Philippines. Our presence also helps to promote literacy in Scotland by encouraging children to enjoy new books. People can learn about what we do and support a charity. This, in turn helps Pusong Pinoy to support literacy projects in the Philippines. Everybody wins! Hopefully, they are future Pusong Pinoy supporters!
