Here's our 2012 Accomplishment Report. What a year it has been!
In 2012, Pusong Pinoy made great strides in bringing hope to many Filipinos! We continue to express our unending gratitude to all the generous Heroes from all over the world who continue to support our cause. Without you, none of our accomplishments would have been possible. It is with great pride that we share with all of you our accomplishments for 2012:
JANUARY
Pusong Pinoy raised P213,000 in monetary donations for the CDO relief project which in turn was used to purchase items requested by the Philippine Red Cross. These basic but very much needed items such as toothbrushes, soap and diapers were distributed to the typhoon victims who were uprooted to evacuation centers. A shout out to hero Edwin Rodriguez who generously used his company’s resources to make sure the items were delivered safely to Cagayan de Oro.
MAY
Pusong Pinoy came into partnership with the Parish Social Action Committee (PSAC) and provided free Hepatitis A vaccines to some 240 kids and PSAC volunteers.
As part of Pusong Pinoy’s goal to eradicate poverty through education, PP handed P125,000 to De La Salle Lipa as part of our annual project “Donasyon para sa Edukasyon 3 (Donation for Education)”. The donation was used to cover the tuition of 25 well deserving PP scholars for school year 2012-2013.
JUNE
Pusong Pinoy wrapped up the ALAY MULA SA PUSO (GIFT FROM THE HEART) 3 PROJECT in time for the opening of classes. Hundreds of students from eight different public schools and NGOs received school supplies that were donated by our generous donors from all over the globe.
JULY
Completion of the 2012 FOOD FOR THOUGHT PROJECT for the kids of Little Lights Ministry and Damascus Foundation.
AUGUST
In August, PP once again partnered with the Parish Social Action Committee (PSAC) for Pusong Pinoy Luzon Relief Project. A total of P125,650 was raised to purchase and distribute relief items to displaced typhoon victims in Nasugbu, Batangas and Sta. Cruz, Laguna. A total of 5,000 packs of ramen noodles; 4,000 cans of sardines; 2,000 liters of water; and 15 sacks of rice were distributed to 500 displaced families.
SEPTEMBER
P75,000 was raised for Pusong Pinoy’s DAMASCUS SCHOLARSHIP PROJECT. The scholarship money was used to provide uniforms and daily meals/snacks for an entire school year for 15 young scholars. These promising students graduated from the Damascus Learning Center and have moved on to an accredited public school.
DECEMBER
It was a merry Christmas indeed as 10 recipient public schools and NGOs received gifts of food, clothes, slippers, toiletries, vitamins and school supplies for their kids! PAMASKO NG PUSONG PINOY 4 was a resounding success!
In 2012, Pusong Pinoy continued to provide books to children as a commitment to promote literacy. Over 9,025 books were turned-over to 11 public schools benefiting an estimated 12,000 public school children. Through the kindness of our donors, these kids now have wonderful books to use as tools to equip them for the future. Aside from books and supplies, Pusong Pinoy was also able to provide much needed sweaters and jackets to the children of Kabuyao, Besong Saddle, Paktil, Bauko Mountain Province.
This article would not be complete without mentioning the highlights of 2012. Last year, we were all so honoured when Pusong Pinoy received the prestigious 2012 GAWAD GENY LOPEZ JR. GLOBAL BAYANING PILIPINO AWARD FOR NORTH AMERICA. Although all the PP volunteers ask for nothing in return, this award validates the work that we do for the Philippines. In the words of our founder Donna Bernardo Rosario, “This award is a testimonial to the power of teamwork and an affirmation that the spirit of bayanihan knows no boundaries. That together, we could truly make a difference.”
In conjunction with this momentous event, Pusong Pinoy held its first ever summit called the 2012 Chikahan sa Manila: Pusong Pinoy Heroes Summit. Volunteers from all over the globe flew in to attend the event. For the first time, the PP volunteers and recipients gathered together in one united cause – the Filipino child. In this gathering of heroes, the PP recipients reported on the progress of their respective sectors. Their feedback was truly encouraging. Together, the attendees took the time to discuss and plan for the future ahead. It is a bright future indeed!
We owe everything to our generous donors. Thank you for the trust and with you by our side, we boldly move forward to 2013 to continue our unwavering commitment to the children of the Philippines.
