PUSONG PINOY'S PLEA FOR BABY KARL VINCENT

Pusong Pinoy is asking for your help for Karl Vincent, the youngest of six siblings. He is 1 year and 9 months old. He has hydrocephalus (a congenital condition in which an abnormal accumulation of fluid in the cerebral ventricles causes enlargement of the skull) and other deformities - his back is curved, he has clubfeet, and no anus.

When he was a few months old, he was supposed to have been given a shunt to drain the water from his head, but due to multiple infections and a lack of finances to pay for medication and treatment, it has been rescheduled several times. The family just cannot raise the money. He was recently rushed to the hospital due to an infection from the wounds in his head that resulted from his inability to lift his head. The doctors released him after an overnight hospital stay. They said he has a slim chance of survival. This tough kid is still fighting for his life in a small abode in San Mateo, Rizal. His Father is a bus driver and mother is unemployed.

After Baby Karl Vincent's story was posted on our Facebook page, we received total cash donations of P17,040.25 from Pusong Pinoy heroes. Our heartfelt thanks go to the following donors:

P1,194 from MARISSA PIKE
P5,000 from an ANONYMOUS DONOR
P4,458 from an ANONYMOUS DONOR
P1,500 from NING GEPILANO
P1,000 from LILY LIM, mom of Phils. Core Team Leader Susan Chua
P900 from JUANITA DOMINGO & ERNESTO DOMINGO SR.
P2,988.25 from an ANONYMOUS DONOR from ABU DHABI, K.S.A.

Donations were given to Baby Karl Vincent's family, which were used to pay some of his treatment and medications. On April 2010, Pusong Pinoy received an update from his family: "The wound on Baby Karl's head is starting to heal. He is now drinking milk every 3 hours and had gained some weight. He is starting to communicate using his lips and hand gestures or he would try to speak with his tiny voice."

--------------------UPDATE--------------------

It is with great sadness to inform you that KARL VINCENT passed away on June 5, 2010, two weeks short of his second birthday. His family is extending their heartfelt thanks to all the Pusong Pinoy heroes for the prayers and financial support. He was cremated at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina on June 6, 2010.
